Dinner For Schmucks
(We failed doing our video review, so we'll continue typing our thoughts instead. Two security guards came behind us, and was going to lock the mall. Awkward situation.)
Title: Dinner For Schmucks
Genre: Comedy
Release: September 10th (In the Movie Theaters, Sweden)
Actors: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Jemaine Clement, Stephanie Szostak
Plot: Tim is about to get a promotion for his job, but in order to be successful he needs to attend his bosses "special" dinner. A dinner where everyone has to bring an idiot so they can make fun of them.
Discussion:
Ninnie: Superfunny! Steve Carell = Awesome!
Victoria: Goodness, yes ! I laughed 'til I cried. I'm already longing for the DVD release so that I can watch it again ! Hilarious movie with hilarious actors and characters.
Ninnie: Totally! I really don't know what else to say. Perfect! "Alan" from "The hangover" has a part in this movie, and he's so funny in this one too.
Victoria: What I really liked about it too, is that funny actors- from other movies and TV-shows- are in it- like you said. Alan was in it. Also Jemaine Clement and Kristan Schaal from Flight of The Conchords were in it, and one of the guys from another funny TV-show (The IT crowd) was in it as well.
Ninnie: It was funny all through it. You never got bored, and the situation in the movie got more twisted and hilarious for every minute. You just knew that this Barry guy would mess things up the more he tried to fix things.
Victoria: Right?? I guess I don't really have anything bad to say about Dinner For Schmucks- can you say something, Ninnie?
Ninnie: Hm? I'm thinking but no, nothing.
Victoria: If you like Steve Carell as an actor and you like "The Office"-and-"The Hangover"-kind-of-humor you will love it ! If you can't stand him and his kind of humor, maybe you won't love it as much. But we definitely say it's an awesome movie!

Watchmen
Title: Watchmen
Genre: Action, Sci-fi, Mystery
Release: August 5, 2009
Actors: Malin Åkerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley
Plot: Someone's killing all the superheros and is also planing to destroy human life. Who should stop this "someone" if the superheros are all dead?
Discussion:
Victoria: Let me start off by saying I love the special effects.
Ninnie: Okay thank you Victoria you just stole my first line Haha. Kidding. It was an exciting movie, it's just that some scenes (flashback scenes) were to long, you kind of forgot what's happening in present time.
Victoria: I totally hear you. I didn't really get the hang of the complete story, to be honest. Not that I was completely lost, but still.
Ninnie: Agree! What do you think about the acting?
Victoria: No complaints there. No "Wow- performance" from anyone, but they were all OK.
Ninnie: Exactly, it felt like no one was really suitable for their part. They couldn't really live up to their character.
Victoria: Right. I must add, also, that I loved the soundtrack, Really nice selection of songs. Who should watch this movie, Ninnie?
Ninnie: Let me start by telling you who shouldn't watch it. Which is people who doesn't like super heros, who's sensitive with blood and "cruel killing" and people who get bored easily.
When I think about superheros I automatically think about pure goodness, but in this movie it's not like that. And you don't get the "superhero feeling".
Victoria: So, Watchmen is a really good action movie with even nicer special effects. You should watch it if you really want to WATCH it, because otherwise it might be hard to follow. But really, it is a good movie!
Victoria: 3,6/5

Adam
Title: Adam
Genre: Drama
Release: March 10, 2010
Actors: Hugh Dancy, Rose Byrne,
Plot: Adam is a loner, and doesn't really know how to be social. He has a disease called Asperger's Syndrome. He meets this girl, and he is "forced" into being around people.
Discussion:
Victoria: It's a very "cute" movie.
Ninnie: Oh yes. I kind of fell inlove with Adam (not very serious) Hugh Dancy was perfect for this role. He did an extraordinary performance!
Victoria: I agree. About the movie itself- it wasn't all that exciting. A little slow. An OK story, but nothing magnificent.
Ninnie: I disagree with you a little. Maybe it was a little slow, but I was really caught up by it and hardly noticed it.
Victoria: That's because you were caught up with your love for Adam. Haha.
Ninnie: Haha, nooo. It was the story that really got to me.
Victoria: It's an OK drama movie.
Ninnie: Wait, wait Victoria, let me just stop you for a second. I think you've forgotten how good and interesting it actually was. Because you seemed a little more into it just after we watched it.
Victoria: Hmm. Maybe. But wouldn't I have remembered it if it were that special- and again, it's not a bad movie. That's not at all what I am implying.
Ninnie: Well you fell asleep, maybe you forgot, haha. No, okay fine maybe I enjoyed it more than you. So the best and not so good part?
Victoria: The best was really the Adam character- like you said, he did a great job and he was really convincing. I believe the not so good part is the fact that nothing completely "tragical/awful/super exciting" happened.
Ninnie: Okay. Good drama movie, not the best. Great portrait of how a person could actually experience the world differently from a healthy person. Cute and watchable.
Victoria: 3,7/5

The Blind side
Title: The Blind Side
Genre: Drama
Release: September 8th (DVD, Sweden)
Actors: Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head
Plot: This movie is based on a true story. Its about a homeless boy named Michael Oher. A caring family takes him into their home, and they'll do anything to make him feel like a family member and give his life a better start.
Discussion:
Victoria: Really touching story. Great great acting- both from Bullock and Quinton Aaron!
Ninnie: Indeed! And I love the little kiddo, Jae Head. He's awesome. It's a really touching story as you said but I do think it was a little slow the last 20 minutes.
Victoria: If you're a "cryer" (in the sense that you easily cry to sad movies) I most definitely think your eyes will tear up to "The Blind Side".
Ninnie: Oh yes! My mum cried like a little baby. So, what do you think was bad about the movie?
Victoria: I guess the bad thing is, what you said earlier, that the last minutes in the movie was kinda slow. Who should watch this particular movie?
Ninnie: Every sensitive person. I actually think that everyone should watch it to learn a little about doing good deeds. It sort of makes you want to be a better person. You should watch it if you want a good drama movie.
Victoria: Sum it up, people! Really good drama movie, very touching and filled with a lot of emotions, love and inspiring people.

Remember me
Title: Remember Me
Genre: Drama, Romance
Release: August 18 (DVD, Sweden)
Actors: Robert Pattinson, Ruby Jerins, Chris Cooper, Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan
Plot: A love drama movie about two young people with different family issues. They meet, fall inlove and struggle with their own and each others backgrounds.
Discussion:
Ninnie: This is a very good example of a good drama movie.
Victoria: Yes. What I liked about it is that it's not so "perfect and pink", it's a little darker and more emotional. I like all the relations in the movie- you could really feel them. For example, Tylers (R.Pattinson) relationship to his father- which it pretty nonexisting yet very strong..?
Ninnie: True. The actors did a really good job! I have to give heads up to Tylers little sister (Ruby Jerins)!
This movie feels trustworthy and gives a good picture of what actually excists in so many houses/families.
Victoria: Was there something you disliked with Remember me?
Ninnie: Hm? Like it isn't the best movie I've seen but there's nothing to complain about, really.
Victoria: I hear you. I was just thinking about who should watch this movie, and I bet anyone who's on "Team Edward" will like this one. No, but seriously though, if you're looking for a quite emotional drama/romantic movie I'd definitely recommend it.
Ninnie: Totally! I've heard a lot of people saying that they didn't like the ending. But I did. You totally didn't see that one coming until the last minutes. I didn't like-like the ending but it was good.
Victoria: Moving on to a sum up. We definitely think this is a movie you should watch. It has a good story, good relationships and the actors does a great job.

Vampires Suck
Title: Vampires Suck
Genre: Comedy
Release: In the movies now
Actors: Jenn Proske, Matt Lanter, Diedrich Bader, Chris Riggi,
Plot: The Twilight Saga in a whole new perspective.
Discussion:
Victoria: Wow. I thought movies like "Scary movie" and similar had low humor , but I had seen nothing until I saw this one last night.
Ninnie: No, God, this was just the definition of low. I mean sure I laughed at some points but it was mostly 'cause it was that bad .
Victoria: This is a movie you should watch at 2am when you're tired and laugh at anything. You should probably have seen the real Twilight movies before you decide to watch this one, otherwise it won't make any sense- or you're not gonna get the "funny jokes" (ha!) in it.
Ninnie: I'm thinking, if you don't like the Twilight movies, and think they're lame, then maybe you'll enjoy this one. 'Cause they're making fun of everything about it.
Victoria: Indeed they are. What was the best vs the worst about "Vampires Suck"?
Ninnie: I think they portrayed the "real characters" good. Thumbs up for Beckas imitation of Bella. The bad thing is that everything was simply too much.
Victoria: Oh yes. You want to go ahead an sum it up?
Ninnie: If you like movies with really low humor, you'll crack up. 12-15 year old (swedish = "fjortis") you'll probably like it. As for "normal" people it's a little bit too much. But with some funny parts.

The Box
Title: The Box
Genre: Thriller, drama, sci-fi, mystery
Release: March 17 (DVD Sweden)
Actors: Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, Frank Langella
Plot: The Lewis Family gets a box with a button on it, from a mysterious man. The offer is one million dollar to the price of someones death . They have 24 hours to decide wheather or not to accept the offer. Will they push the button and what will the consequences be?
Discussion:
Ninnie: Let me just start by saying: Baaaad performance by Cameron Diaz. She's suppose to have this Southern accent but it all comes out like a mix and it feels like she's concentrating more on her accent than the acting part. None of it very good.
Victoria: I hear ya. I wouldn't go down too harsh on her though. Cameron Diaz will always be one of my favorite actresses, but I do admit- this wasn't her best performance. Otherwise- about the movie itself: very good, I must say. Throughout the movie I kept thinking "goodness, what will happen? I have absolutely no idea".
Ninnie: Yes Cameron is one of my favorite actresses too, but disappointing in this movie. Hm? I wouldnt say it was "very good". It was exciting but I just didn't find it very good anyway.
Victoria: It was a little confusing at some points (or I'm just a confused person) but from time to time I wasn't sure wheather or not you were suppose to know what was going on. That doesn't neccesarily have to be a bad thing, it just makes you think. A movie that makes you think will always be more memorable (kinda...) than a movie that just passed you by......?
Ninnie: If you're looking for a good sci-fi movie this is not the right one. Okey I'm coming off all negative, which is not my intention. Because it is a good movie, don't get me wrong.
Victoria: You have to be alert while watching it, otherwise you'll ruin the movie - just a tip. Tell me Ninnie- what DID you like specifically about The Box?
Ninnie: Hm? Well the story is good. And in the end there's some good emotional choices to be made. Which I liked.
Victoria: True. I guess we have some different opinions about this one. We do agree on the fact that it's a decently good movie. The acting part is not as good as it could and should be. But it's worth watching.

Plot: Emily is working as a social worker. She gets a case (case 39) involving a girl, whose parents tries all they can to kill her. Emily stops this from happening and takes the girl into her own home. She shouldn't have.
Discussion:
Victoria: Interesting story actually.
Ninnie: Horrible story actually! I totally HATE this kind of movie!
Victoria: I guess if you like movies like "The Exorcist" you will like this movie. I'm not a fan of horror movies, but I do get a little kick out of them. I WAS really scared when watching- I must admit.
Ninnie: Ofcourse since I left after half of it and you had to watch it alone, Muahaha. This is a really scary story and since I hate it I couldn't even finish watching it. So I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a reeeeally scary movie. Or maybe I'm just lame.

Plot: Steven goes from being happily married to a women to realizing he is gay. His new life involves fraud and constant lying to his new life partner Philip Morris.Discussion:
Ninnie: Okey, really don't know what to think about this movie. It's good but still pretty "unnecessary".
Victoria: When I was watching it all I kept thinking was "what is this?". Jim Carrey in this kind of movie...? Nah, I don't really know about that. I didn't really understand the deal with this movie, to be honest.
Ninnie: Me neither. I mean at some points I thought "oh maybe it isnt that bad", but really its not my kind of movie at all. Did you think it was exciting V?
Victoria: I wouldn't say exciting- more... I don't know. The only word that comes up in my head is "weird". Haha.
Ninnie: Yeah, exactly. What do you think about the actors performance?
Victoria: I normally like Jim Carrey- some people do some don't, that's just how it is I think. This movie was just wrong for him- or wrong for me to watch, I guess. The actors did an OK job, not really something that I paid much attention to. What do you say?
Ninnie: I agree about Jim Carrey. I'd say Ewan McGregor did a slightly better job. I believed him being a gay and loving man.
Victoria: Yes. I'm trying to think about something good to say about it, and I can't really think of anything- yet it's not that sucky, don't get me wrong. It's just very unspecial and weird.
Ninnie: Ok a sum up: It's not a horrible movie and it's not a great movie. If you'd like to see Jim Carrey in a different role, then fine, it's an okey movie. It's ok to see if there isn't anything else on TV.

Discussion
Victoria: I have only heard from people that this is a really good movie, so obviously I watched it with my hopes up. It did take a while for the movie to become good......Ninnie: But once it did, It was REALLY good. It was not predictable at all. It took different turns every now and then. The actors did a great job too!
Victoria: My point exactly. The first like half hour/hour was kinda boring, or not much happened. But after that- boom ! and I really enjoyed it. It was filled with action and it was really exciting.
Ninnie: Indeed. Some would think it's too cruel at some points but that's what made this movie so great!
Victoria: Yes. I'd say if you're looking for a really good action movie- this is what you need to watch. BIG plus, also, to the awesome pictures and how they have cut everything, and the colors etc. Really nicely made.
Ninnie: Yes it's incredible! And don't give up after the first half hour/hour 'cause it WILL get better, that's for sure!
Victoria: Sum it up ! - It's a great action movie. If you like a lot of violence and an interesting story we would really recommend it. It is not suitable for kids or sensitive viewers. We'd say it's a perfectly great movie.

Discussion:
Ninnie: Okey so this movie was over all good but it's sort of like the writer wants to put every Cliché scenario into the story
Victoria: Couldn't agree more. Some parts are really lame (though other people might find those parts very... good?) but there's definitely parts in the movie that are good. I want to give heads up to the little brother!
Ninnie: Oh yes we love him!
Victoria: So, Ninnie... Would you say that the movie was predictable?
Ninnie: Hm? Yes mostly I could definitely tell what was going to happen. I guess I'd say that was predictable. What do you say?
Victoria: Yeah, I feel the same way. There were never really one scene that shocked or surprised me.
Ninnie: What do you say about the actors performance?
Victoria: As I mentioned earlier, I really liked the Bobby Coleman, who played the little brother. He did great ! The dad was really good too. When it comes to Miley Cyrus, who played the main character, I'm not really sure. The thing is, I am not a Miley fan to begin with and it took me quite a while to actually start to like her. She did alright though.
Ninnie: Considering that she's been playing Hannah Monatana for a couple of years, you'd think she would be a better actress. Although she did pretty good over all.
So who do you think should see this movie?
Victoria: People who like really cheesy romantic drama movies. People who easily cry to movies will defintely shed a tear to this one. Might not reach out all that much to guys?
Ninnie: No definitely not.
Victoria: Let's sum it up, shall we. It's good movie if you ARE looking for a typical romantic drama, and like "the way" movies are usually set up. We would recommend this movie to everyone besides the ones that want to see a more unpredictable movie and wants a little bit extra of everything.
Ninnie: Yep, its sort of like the movie is missing that extra part that makes it memorable.
Ninnie: 3/5
Victoria: 3/5
......Coming up as a requested movie: "Man On Fire"
Peas & carrots /V&N

Plot: Rebellious teenager reunites/reconnect/stays with her father for the summer, where she meets Will. And summer doesnt go as she imagined.

Plot: Normal/Geeky guy having a dream about becoming a superhero and that's what happens.
Discussion:
Victoria: The movie really does Kick Ass!
Ninnie: Yes, indeed ! One of the best movies I've ever seen.
Victoria: I Agree. Filled with action both young and adults will enjoy.
Ninnie: It also contains humor which pretty much every one will like. Victoria, what do you think- if someone doesn't like comics, will they still enjoy it?
Victoria: Hmm.. My first thought was "Yes, of course", but I mean if you're really not into superheros and such, you might not be as interested in this movie as someone who does like comics would be. But it's still not a "cliché superhero movie" so I think most people will still enjoy it, yes.
Ninnie: Yeah, because it's like a good action movie too, the only difference is really that they have superhero costumes. It was a good movie from the start and all the way through. Victoria did you think it was a predictable movie?
Victoria: Well, it's been a few months since we saw the movie (April, legally in the movies in the States) so I don't actually recall my opinion on that.
Ninnie: Not me either. Though, even if it was - it didn't wreck the movie. I'm a big superhero fan and I've dreamt about being a superhero, myself, so of course this movie is made for a person who secretly dreams about becoming a superhero.
Victoria: Totally ! Hm, when thinking about what you just said- this movie might not be as entertaining for people who don't enjoy superheros then.... ?
Ninnie: So to sum this up: If you are a superhero fan or ever had a dream about becoming a superhero this is a Must-See.
Victoria: There's a lot of fighting, blood, humor and excitment !
Ninnie: 5/5
Victoria: 5/5
Ninnie: A good start for this blog, Victoria !
